Home » India Travel News » Goa Tourism Takes the Spotlight at Kazakhstan-India Forum, Opening Doors to New Pathways for Cross-Border Tourism, Investment, and Economic Growth Thursday, June 26, 2025Goa Tourism continues to be a significant player in India’s thriving travel industry, and on June 23, 2025, it was at the forefront of an event designed to strengthen tourism ties between Kazakhstan and India. The Kazakhstan-India Tourism Business Forum, held in Almaty, aimed to build on the growing tourism exchange and explore opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation.Organized by the Akimat of the Almaty Region in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of India in Kazakhstan, the forum drew more than 100 participants, including key representatives from tour operators, airlines, hotels, investors, medical professionals, and government officials. The event served as an important platform for B2B and B2G meetings, facilitating discussions on how to enhance tourism offerings and create new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.A key theme of the forum was highlighting Goa as a prime destination for Kazakh tourists. Known for its golden beaches, rich cultural diversity, and vibrant tourism scene, Goa was presented as an ideal gateway for Kazakh travelers seeking unique vacation experiences. By focusing on such destinations, the forum underscored the potential to expand tourism flows, foster deeper cultural exchanges, and unlock new economic opportunities for both nations.Director Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik stated “Goa is often synonymous with sun, sand, and beaches—and rightly so. But there’s a deeper story waiting to be told. As India’s first state to adopt regenerative tourism, we are redefining travel by blending nature, culture, and community into experiences that are both meaningful and memorable. Our latest campaign, #GlowOnArrival, celebrates this spirit—inviting travellers to discover Goa’s monsoons through forest walks, wellness retreats, heritage homestays, and vibrant village life. With growing international connectivity and enhanced infrastructure, including the new Mopa airport, Goa is also fast emerging as a destination for M.I.C.E, weddings, and adventure. We warmly welcome our friends from Kazakhstan to explore this soulful, sustainable, and spirited side of Goa.”The forum proved to be an incredibly fruitful gathering for all involved, emphasizing the shared goal of strengthening tourism and cultural ties between India and Kazakhstan. Goa, renowned as a premier international destination, with its pristine beaches, vibrant festivals, heritage architecture, and rich local cuisine, garnered significant attention from the Kazakh travel industry. This sparked enthusiasm and optimism for future collaborations, highlighting the potential for deeper engagement between the two nations.A key highlight was the presentation by the Indian Railway Corporation, which unveiled a new tourist train, showcasing the infrastructure being developed to boost tourism in India. Several Indian states also took the opportunity to promote their unique travel circuits, with Goa receiving special focus due to its exceptional combination of natural beauty, coastal allure, and cultural heritage. Additionally, the forum explored the growing potential of medical and wellness tourism, discussing collaborative opportunities in the high-quality healthcare sector.Representatives from Kazakhstan introduced the diverse tourism offerings of the Almaty Region, including the picturesque wellness destination of Oi-Qaragai. Air Astana shared exciting updates regarding new flight routes and enhanced connectivity, further underscoring the potential of Almaty to host Indian tourists. The natural beauty of the region and its appeal to Indian travelers was prominently featured throughout the event.A major development during the forum was the proposal from the Tourism Department of the Almaty Region to formalize a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goa Tourism. This MoU aims to focus on the joint promotion of tourism and the exchange of best practices in sustainable and regenerative tourism, aligning perfectly with Goa’s commitment to balancing ecological preservation with a memorable visitor experience and community welfare. This promising interaction is expected to lead to a surge in tourist arrivals from Kazakhstan to Goa, facilitated by the establishment of direct charter flights and collaborative promotional efforts. The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, is eager to capitalize on this momentum, building deeper and more impactful relationships in the Central Asian market.
