South Korea became the leading force behind Japan’s tourism surge, with a remarkable 825,800 South Korean visitors arriving in May 2025, solidifying its position as the top contributor to Japan’s tourism expansion. The growth can be largely attributed to the introduction of new flight routes, including the one connecting South Korea with Obihiro, a city in Hokkaido.
