However, this figure represented a 5.8 percent decline from the same period last year. Domestic tourism ranked second in terms of overnight stays, with 3.9 million nights spent by Croatian nationals. Meanwhile, Slovenian visitors came in third, contributing 2.9 million overnight stays, down slightly by 0.4 percent.The data revealed that Polish tourists emerged as one of the few markets to show growth. Visitors from Poland generated 2.3 million overnight stays, marking a notable 7.4 percent increase from the previous year. Other key markets like Austrian and Italian tourists experienced slight declines, with Austrian visitors contributing 2 million nights (a 3.1 percent decrease) and Italian visitors staying for 1.8 million nights (a drop of 3.1 percent).Decrease in Visits from Czech, Slovak, and Dutch TouristsOther European visitors, including those from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Netherlands, saw a downturn in their travel numbers. Czech tourists spent 1.3 million overnight stays in Croatia, reflecting a 4.5 percent decrease. Slovak tourists accounted for just over 1 million nights, a 3.9 percent decline, while Dutch visitors stayed for a total of 1 million nights, registering a significant 10.2 percent decrease.Positive Growth from the United KingdomOne of the bright spots in the source market data was the performance of the United Kingdom, which contributed 952,500 overnight stays, a 2.1 percent increase compared to August 2024. The growth in British arrivals reflects the continued appeal of Croatia as a destination for UK tourists, despite the slight overall decline in international overnight stays.Looking Forward: A Mixed Picture for Croatia’s TourismThe general image of tourism in Croatia during August 2025 presents a stable but somewhat mixed picture.
